One of the biggest determinants of good health would definitely be you diet. And eating right is one of the best things you can do to help yourself lead a healthy life. A balanced diet not only important to help give you the right nutritional needs to fuel your day, it is also important to aid in the very process that breaks down food and keeps you energized all week long-digestion.
Unlike what some people think, digestion is a long process that involves more than the stomach. From the intestines to the mouth, the pharynx and the esophagus, it takes a lot of effort from various parts of your body. And when this is the case, it wouldn't really hurt to give your body a little help, would it? Here are a few ways to help improve your digestion and lead a thoroughly healthy life:
Set aside a special time and place for meals in a clean, harmonious environment. Eat only when you are calm and focused on eating. Leave as much time as possible after eating for unhurried digestion. Avoid eating during peak liver detoxification activity, which is between one o'clock and three o'clock in the morning. Smaller, more frequent meals promote better carbohydrate metabolism, triggering less insulin production. Eat frequently to stabilize blood-sugar levels for sustained energy. Eat dinner early in the evening, preferably before six o'clock. Always undereat slightly-with less food you have greater clarity, more energy and you require less sleep. Drink plenty of water or herbal tea between meals to promote regularity and the elimination of toxins. Limit the amount of liquid taken with meals. Too much liquid can dilute digestive juices.
