Problems With Digestion? Why You Should Never Drink Cold Liquids!

If you are having problems with digestion, one thing you should think about is how you drink your liquids. In this article I will tell you why you should avoid drinking cold liquids for the sake of your digestive system and good health.

Those icy liquids aren't exactly natural you know (unless you live in the Arctic). For thousands of years, ice cold drinks were not available, and I believe for good reason.

Cold liquids make it very difficult for your digestive system to work properly. Think about it.

What is the natural temperature of your insides? That is the temperature your digestive system is designed to work at. Add some ice-cold liquid and what happens?

That icy liquid slows everything down and causes problems with digestion.

Have you ever drunk too much cold liquid in a short time? How did your body respond and what did it tell you? Your throat probably responded with pain (throat freeze), and it is not usual to get the shivers if you overdo it. I know I have...that's before I stopped drinking cold liquid all together.

How Do Cold Liquids Cause Problems With Digestion?

It is really simple to understand how cold liquids cause problems with digestion. Just answer these two questions:

1. What happens when you heat water up?

Answer: The molecules in the water speed up and increase activity.

2. What happens when you freeze water?

Answer: The molecules slow down and come to a stop.

Heat speeds molecules up and cold slows them down...it's that simple.

Cold slows down your digestive process too. You digestive system consists of millions of molecules, as does everything else. Slowing down your digestive process is not the way to resolve problems with digestion. The result is poorly digested foods, which results in poor nutrition and more unfriendly bacteria that feed on the undigested food particles.

And so a chain reaction of negative things takes place from drinking that icy drink.

Your digestive system must be warm in order to function properly. So why not give your digestive system a break and forgo those ice cold drinks?
